Ordinance on the re-election of university presidents
Thiruvananthapuram: The cabinet decided on Wednesday to issue an ordinance recommending the governor nominate well-known names in education for the appointment of chancellor of the various state universities. The ordinance aims to change existing university guidelines regarding the provost appointment clause. This clause currently stipulates that the governor must also act as chancellor of 14 universities in the state based on his request, a dictum that will be superseded.
It is planned to have rectors for the universities of Kerala, Calicut, Kannur, MG, Sanskrit and Malayalam University. A separate rectory for Cusat, mixed digital and technical universities and another for the University of Fisheries and Health Sciences.
